Issue 02 is available now. Thanks to everyone for your patience…enjoy. A note to those who might have been concerned about missing the deadline — our Competitions have been extended through April 30. November 29, 2004 // Check-In

We at Caketrain are proud to announce today that the winning manuscript in our 2004 Poetry Chapbook Competition, as judged by Jim Daniels, is “Check-In” by Elizabeth Skurnick. “Check-In” will be released in a perfect-bound limited edition in 2005 as the inaugural title from our newly-established imprint arm; more information will be available as it happens at the Press link above. Also, Jim Daniels awards runner-up status to John Davis for his manuscript “The Reservist”. Congratulations and thanks to all who entered.

In other news, two new competitions are now underway in the categories of fiction and non-fiction, to be graciously judged by Tayari Jones and Sue William Silverman. Find out more at the new Compete link above, and good luck!

Lastly, we are still on our way toward the release of Issue 02, and thank everyone for their patience, as we are currently fine-tuning the issue to perfection. It may take a bit longer than expected, but we promise you’ll find it worth the wait. Thanks for reading!
