Submissions are now being accepted for Caketrain Issue 06, tentatively slated for release in mid-to-late 2008.

Please submit up to seven poems, works of fiction or creative nonfiction (no book reviews please), works of visual art, or any combination therein, to

(attached DOC, RTF or PDF preferred over pasted-in-the-body for text, 300+ dpi JPG, PSD or PDF preferred for visuals).

Submissions should include a cover letter with titles of submissions, a brief, press-ready biographical statement, and any relevant contact information. Please print name and title on the top of each poetry page. Caketrain does not accept previously published pieces. Please send SASE for response. All unused print submissions will be recycled upon rejection unless return is specifically requested. Please do not send original art prints. Caketrain will not be responsible for lost or damaged pieces. Simultaneous submissions are permitted; please notify immediately if a piece is chosen for publication elsewhere. Response time can take up to six months, but is often much shorter. Please do not submit additional work until a decision has been made regarding your current submission. Contributors receive one complimentary copy; all rights revert to authors upon publication.

Caketrain is a literary journal and press based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our interest is in bringing you, reader, the very best in contemporary creative writing, full stop. Our goals are for each issue of our journal to submerge you in a birthing tank for gelatinous language monsters, young masses of tentacular foci undulating as directed (in all, at once) by our eclectic stable of contributors; for each new book to seduce and ensnare you, sometimes intangibly, always undeniably; and for you, reader, to be able to draw at least one passage from our banks that prods your mind with a precision and power that feels as if it was written for your eyes alone. To wit and to whet, here is a snippet, a slight nip of our delicious lit mix:
